Vera A. Dupler, 98, a resident of Silver Pines Assisted Living and Retirement Community, Cedar Rapids, died, Wednesday morning, May 10, 2006, at the care center, of complications of age. Services: 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2006, at the Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Del Bear. Visitation: 1-3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Vera is survived by two sons, Joseph Lyle Steggall and Thomas E. (Sandra L.) Dupler, both of Cedar Rapids; a stepdaughter, Shirley Matheny Pursey; two grandchildren, Roger T. Dupler and Ellen K. Kloubec; a stepgranddaughter, Michelle Matheny; five great-grandchildren, Nicholas J. Myron Kloubec, Meghan Alice Kloubec, Marlin Thomas Dupler, Everett Douglas Dupler and Charles Robert Dupler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin E. Dupler; a stepson, Marlin E. Dupler, Jr; a stepgrandson, Douglas Matheny; a granddaughter, Emily LaReen Kloubec; two sisters, Norine Boat and Dorothy Hoffmaster; and one brother, Harold Ellison.

Vera was born March 28, 1908, in Martelle, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Cora (Studer) Ellison. She graduated from Martelle High School in 1926. Vera married Joseph Steggall and they had one son, Joseph Lyle. On July 3, 1939, Vera married Marlin E. Dupler in Kahoko, Missouri. Together they had a son, Thomas E. Dupler.

Vera was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and past-officer of the Women of the Moose. She had the honor of serving as Senior Regent and was a member of the College of Regents. Vera enjoyed many hours socializing with her lady friends and doing charitable works with her fellow Moose members. She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing and doing needlework for family and friends. Vera will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
