She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Iva Vernon; husbands, Harold Kouba and Leland Langguth; and son, David Kouba.
Vida was born June 18, 1918, the daughter of John and Iva (Workman) Vernon. She graduated from Marion High School in 1936. Vida married Harold Kouba in June, 1936; Harold died in 1944. On December 17, 1945, Vida married Leland Langguth; Leland died March 1, 1977. Vida filled her days being a housewife on two farms in Alburnett. In February 1962, she moved to Center Point to run the business as the Vi-Da-Le Motel until March of 1977. Vida then moved to Marion to take care of her father until his death in 1980. She was known for her diaries that she wrote in every day for many years (started in 1952) and for all the pies she baked, being involved in the Alburnett coffee club, book club, and garden club, and always for her good sense of humor. Vida also had an admirable talent for quilting and making afghans; each of her family members received one and will continue to be covered with her love each time they use one. She was a member of Alburnett Christian Church.
Those who knew Vida will always remember her good humor and her laughter. She was always ready for a good day and was a planner. She will be greatly missed.
Memorials may be directed to Alburnett Christian Church in Vida’s memory.
