Virginia Louise Pernicka (Kruse)

Virginia L. Pernicka, 77, of 1442 26th Street S.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, December 20, 2008, in her home from Alzheimer’s disease. Services: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 24, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Bill Harnish. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Glenn; son, Steven Pernicka of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Sheryl Novak of Ely; and brother, John Kruse of Evergreen, Colorado.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Connie Anderson of Ely, Amber Spearn of Newhall and Willy Novak of Atkins.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents.
Virginia was born May 2, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of W.A. and Margaret (Krumholz) Kruse. She earned a B.A. degree from Drake University, graduating with honors. On November 22, 1953, she was united in marriage to Glenn Pernicka.
A great joy to Virginia was helping stray animals and the Humane Society was very important to her. She belonged to the Miniature Club and loved garage sales.
