Vivian A. Johnson, 80, of 4404 Pepperwood Hill SE, died Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at St. Luke?s Hospital, from heart failure. Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2005, at St. Paul?s Methodist Church Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer and Rev. Harlan Gillespie. There will be no visitation. Private family burial will be at Oak Shade Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-two years, Richard of Cedar Rapids; her children, Lee Johnson (Marilyn Kriegel) of Marion, Craig (Sheila) Johnson of Houston, Texas and Kay Johnson of Ames; two grandchildren, Jeremy (Jennifer) Johnson and Melanie Johnson; and two great-grandchildren, Parker and Elijah Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; and a brother.
Vivian was born September 28, 1925, the daughter of Clifford and Clara (Leivestad) Near in Chamberlain, South Dakota. She graduated from Mitchell High School in South Dakota and received her BS degree in medical technology from the University of South Dakota. On January 18, 1953, she married Richard Johnson in Minneapolis. She was a member of St. Paul?s Methodist Church, St. Paul?s United Methodist Women and the Alpha Phi Sorority.
A memorial fund has been established in Vivian?s memory.
