William “Bill” Theodore Wall, 76, of Delhi, died Thursday, August 23, 2007 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 2007 at the Delhi United Methodist Church by Rev. Lorraine Hartman. Family will greet friends from 3-8 p.m. on Sunday at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville and one hour before services Monday at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Delhi.
Bill was born June 27, 1931 in Farley, the son of Theodore and Minnie J. (Sternhagen) Wall. He attended country school in Farley and Delhi, and graduated in 1949 from Delhi High School. On November 5, 1951, Bill was united in marriage to Donna J. Meader in Manchester. He was a life-long farmer farming north of Delhi.
Bill was a 60-year member of the Delhi United Methodist Church. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. Bill fast-pitched for Greeley, Tegeler, Happi Time, The Office, Ryan and many other teams. He was inducted into the Iowa Fast-pitched Softball Hall of Fame. He loved his home and farming. He was proud of his yard and garden, and enjoyed inspecting his work from his golf cart.
Bill is survived by his wife, Donna Wall of Delhi; children, Ted (Kaye) Wall of Delhi, Julie (Steve) Keuter of Coggon and Linda (John) Hoffmann of Earlville; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, with another due in December; a sister, Donna (Cecil) Downs of Manchester; and three nieces and a nephew.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Minnie Wall; and two sons, Michael Allen in 1975 and Jerry William in 1997.
