William "Bill? F. Chramosta, 77, of 200 Clive Dr. N.W., died Thursday, May 25, 2006, in the Heritage Nursing Home, Cedar Rapids following a short illness. Services: 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids by the Rev. Del Bear. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2006, at the funeral home. Burial: Czech National Cemetery with military honors.
Survivors include a daughter, Cathy (Scott) Appleget of Cedar Rapids; a son, Ron (Laura) Chramosta of Marion; three grandchildren, Megan and Nicholas Appleget and Cameron William Chramosta; and one sister, Anne Pesek of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly; and a brother, Frank Chramosta, Jr.
Bill was born January 13, 1929, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Frank Chramosta, Sr. and Olga (Blazek) Chramosta. He graduated from Wilson High School. Bill served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. On May 26, 1957, in Van Horne, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Beverly Schulze at Salem Evangelical Church. Beverly died in 1986. Bill was a window designer at Killians Department Store, worked for Pennick & Ford, Gateway and Takin Trucking Companies, and H & W Motor Express, retiring in 1987. Bill enjoyed family vacations, playing cards, listening to music, watching old movies, and was an avid Hawkeye fan. He was proud of his Czech heritage.
