William “Bill” Lee Loeffers Sr., 85, of Marion, died Thursday, October 15, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a short illness. The family will greet friends from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion. Private family inurnment at Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton, will take place prior to visitation.
Survivors include his son, William “Bill” Lee (Peggy) Loeffers Jr. of Cedar Rapids; his daughter, Paulette Loeffers of Marion; three grandchildren, William Grant Loeffers, Jean (Kevin) Van Dee, and Jennifer (fiancé Adam) Loeffers; two great-grandchildren, Arianna and Kyli; three step great-grandchildren, Sarah, Justin, and Jesse. Other survivors include nephews, Bill (Millie) Sanders, and Ton (Linda) Sanders; niece Peggy Pavek; two sisters, Helen (Fred) and Betty; cousin, Betty (Lloyd) Lyons; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill Sr. was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; mother-in-law, Alma Tuttle; granddaughter, Joan; three sisters; and one brother.
Bill Sr. was born September 6, 1924, in Burlington, Iowa. He served in the Navy during World War II. Bill married Florence M. Tuttle February 4, 1945, and they raised their children in Vinton, Iowa. They moved to Marion in 1974. Bill was retired from Russell’s Guide & Printing Company.
