William R. McQuiston

William R. McQuiston, 101, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, joined his wife on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. The family will greet friends from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2026, at Christ Church Presbyterian Church, 2000 1st Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids. A memorial service will follow at 10 a.m. at the church. Inurnment will take place at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

William was born May 5, 1925, in Colfax, Iowa, the son of William Ray and Anna (Urban) McQuiston. He attended Wilson High School before honorably serving his country in the United States Navy. On October 31, 1947, William was united in marriage to A. LaVelle Myers at Olivet Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. He dedicated 34 years of service to Wilson Packing, retiring when the company closed in 1984. William was a lifetime member of the Solon VFW and a devoted member of Olivet Presbyterian Church, where he faithfully served as both a Deacon and an Elder.

Survivors include his three sons, Greg M. (Jackie) McQuiston of Hiawatha, Iowa, Jeffrey R. (Connie) McQuiston and Barry R. (Denice) McQuiston, both of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Trent, Leah, Allie, Jana, Hailey, and Chelsea; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, A. LaVelle McQuiston; his parents, William and Anna McQuiston; his brother, James M. McQuiston; and his sisters, Enid L. Martin and Grace E. Palmer.
