Wiltrude Pauline Newman, 93, of Center Point, Iowa, died Sunday, April 16, 2006, in the Hiawatha Care Center of a sudden illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at First Christian Church, Center Point, by the Rev John Caughron. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Jane (Mel) Stanard of Cedar Rapids, Dixie (Laurence) Reed of Swisher, and Wendy (Dave) Kall of New Port Richey, Florida; four grandchildren, Dan (Mary) Stanard, Susan (Frank) Gurnick, Lauri (Paul) Deninger, and Chris Reed; five great grandchildren, Stella Rose Stanard, Josh and Sam Gurnick, and Katherine and Jacob Deninger; and a sister, Irma Chester of Troy Mills.

Wiltrude was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wendell; three brothers, Harlan Cook, Ralph Cook, and Burl Cook; and two sisters, Nona Chapek and Gladys Lake.

On February 17, 1913, Wiltrude was born in Troy Mills, Iowa, the daughter of William and Lora (Walton) Cook. On July 16, 1935, she married Wendell Newman. He died in 1980. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Center Point and the Center Point American Legion Auxiliary.
