Winifred M. Waggoner, 88, a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center, formerly of Cedar Rapids, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 4, 2004, at the care center, following a long illness. Celebration of Life: 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2004, at Immanuel Baptist Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dave Miller. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her son, David (Marie) Waggoner of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Dawn Jellison, Donna Waggoner, Debbie Waggoner, and Doug Waggoner; two stepgrandchildren, Teresa Lindley and Rani Javier; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, John (Lucille) Roberts of Des Moines, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; and four brothers, Arnold, Raymond, Robert and Harlan.

Winifred was born December 6, 1915, the daughter of Sam and Jenny (Thomas) Roberts, in Williamsburg, Iowa. On June 15, 1946, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Waggoner in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He died November 16, 1976. A homemaker, Winifred also worked part-time for Dostals. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids. Winifred enjoyed helping others and was very avid in taking people to their doctor appointments.
